Pianist, composer and teacher Ray Songayllo has been teaching at the Des Moines Symphony Academy since 2002. He recently returned from a trip to Cape Town, South Africa, where he performed a concert with his Midgard Ensemble:

The program included music of Rachmaninoff (Trio Elegiaque no. 1) and theBerceuse from “The Firefird,” arranged by Ray himself.  
The musicians met at Dartington Music Festival in 2002 and they performed a handful of concerts in the Twin Cities, three in England and this, the first in Cape Town area. Why Cape Town? Imogen lives near there.
“This was an introductory concert and we hope to follow-up,” Ray said.
