Congrats to Kevin Puts whose opera ‘Silent Night,’ won the 2012 Pulitzer Prize for music. Kevin Puts is an Eastman School of Music graduate (BM 1994, DMA 1999) and several Symphony Orchestra and Academy musicians are also Eastman grads, including:

  • Jonathan Sturm (concertmaster)
  • John Helmich (first violin)
  • Charles Miranda (viola)
  • George Work (cello)
  • Sophia Ahmad (Academy, piano)

Congrats too, to Andrew Norman, who was a Pulitzer Prize finalist this year for his 30-minute string trio “The Companion Guide to Rome.” Norman was the 2009 Symphony Academy composer-in-residence.
